Get ready for a thrilling comeback, because Ghostface is making his return in the highly anticipated film "Scream 7." Paramount Pictures has just unveiled an exciting new trailer for this latest installment of the iconic horror franchise.
Initially announced back in August 2023, "Scream 7" brings back the beloved character Sidney Prescott, portrayed by the talented Neve Campbell. This time, Sidney faces a new Ghostface killer, who is determined to wreak havoc on her life and that of her daughter. It’s worth noting that Campbell was absent from "Scream 6" due to a disagreement regarding pay but has now returned, having played a crucial role in reviving interest in the series with her appearance in "Scream 5."
Fans can also look forward to the return of familiar faces from previous films, including Courteney Cox and David Arquette, who will reprise their roles. Additionally, Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley are back to revive their characters, despite their previous demises in earlier entries.
The cast will see the return of Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown, alongside several newcomers: Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, McKenna Grace, Sam Rechner, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Anna Camp, Joel McHale, Mark Consuelos, and Ethan Embry.
The first four entries in the "Scream" franchise were directed by the legendary Wes Craven, who sadly passed away in 2015. However, the series' creator, Kevin Williamson, responsible for the first two films and the fourth, will take the reins as writer and director for this seventh chapter. The film is produced by William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein.
Despite the excitement surrounding its release, "Scream 7" has encountered significant production challenges, including delays caused by the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, creative changes, and the departure of key cast members. Notably, Melissa Barrera, who played Sam Carpenter in the last two films, was removed from the project following her controversial remarks on social media about the ongoing conflict in Israel. Shortly after, Jenna Ortega, who played her sister Tara Carpenter, exited the film due to scheduling conflicts with her work on Netflix’s "Wednesday."
Fans can expect to see "Scream 7" hit theaters on February 27, so mark your calendars! Don’t forget to check out the trailer below for a sneak peek at what’s in store.
